On Friday, I’m hopping on a jet plane and getting the eff out of this icy snowy tundra that, for some reason, I’ve decided to call home. My mom and I are having a mother/daughter girl’s weekend just outside of San Francisco.
We’re going to spend a day hiking at Muir Woods (something we’ve both always wanted to do), walking along Stinson Beach, and generally eating good food and spending some QT together.
I plan to live in jeans and cozy tees and sweaters. Lately have been obsessed with Marine Layer for soft t-shirts which is fitting as they started in San Fran. And this neutral knit (also seen here) is not coming off all weekend!
Victoria (my most well-versed NorCal friend!) recommended a few great restaurants including Fish and Barrel House Tavern which we plan to check out but I’d love to hear any recs that you have! Restaurants with a view? Beautiful vistas? We’ll take it? Your favorite green juice joint? Yes, please!
Comment below or on Facebook and I’ll give you a shout out if we end up visiting the place you recommended!
Hi Julia,
Glad someone can escape to warmer pastures! This winter is a killer. Have a great time with your mom. Would love to hear your favorite California spots when you return (I’ve never been!)

If you make it to Napa, definitely visit Domaine Carneros winery if you love sparkling wine was much as I do…that’s their specialty! And a visit to Boudin Bakery for some soup in one of their phenomenal sourdough bread bowls is a must!
You would love love love Greens restaurant in Fort Mason if you get a moment in SF. Right over the water, perfect for lunch.
Take the ferry over to Sausalito and eat at Scoma’s! Great view and delicious food!

You would love The Plant- their Pier 3 location is amazing. Their dinners are unreal, and all organic and fresh plus a great atmosphere!
Love it! I’m way too cold in NYC, so my girlfriends and I just booked a vacation to California too! Going to San Francisco, Santa Monica and L.A! Have a blast!

Have a great trip, Julia! It’s freaking freezing in Chicago too…summer can’t come soon enough.

Check out Cavallo Point in Sausalito. The Farley Bar has cocktails and small plates with beautiful views of the Golden Gate Bridge. Enjoy your trip!
I’m probably too late, but Sol Food in San Rafael is FANTASTIC! it doesn’t have a view, but it’s a really cute spot. Salito’s in Sausalito has a great view and really good food as well.
