Snow Days

After a very busy holiday season, Anel and I wanted to unwind and connect without our phones or any stress, so we planned a day of massages, healthy eating, and relaxing. On Saturday morning, we drove up to The Mayflower Grace for our luxurious spa day, and it was better than I could have ever imagined. We stayed at the hotel last spring, and our favorite part of the visit was the spa. They have a room full of windows with chaise lounges facing out where you can just read, or doze off. I’ve never felt more relaxed than sitting in one of those chairs for a few hours.

We arrived at 11:30 and read our books until our couples massage at 12:15. I didn’t realize how much tension I had in my neck and shoulders until it was released. After the massages, we enjoyed the steam rooms, saunas, and hot tub, followed by more reading and resting in the relaxation room. We ordered a quick lunch of (delicious) salads before we made the drive home. It usually takes an hour each way but the snow storm was actually really scary and it took us 2.5 hours getting home. Of course when we got home our furnace broke and it was 18 degrees out! Luckily all of that relaxation was still in our systems so we handled it calmly, troubleshooting with trusty Google.

Another highlight of our weekend was a date night on Friday at The Whelk, our absolute favorite restaurant nearby. We realized we hadn’t been on a date in over two weeks, which is why this weekend was all about us. As I mentioned last week, we remained strong on our healthy eating kick and today feel rejuvenated and vibrant after all the relaxing and clean eating. Tomorrow I’m going to share one of my new favorite recipes, a new kale Caesar that rivals Sweetgreen’s (seriously!). Over the weekend, I also made these healthy banana muffins (gluten free) and a healthified gluten free version of these chicken enchiladas… half without cheese for me.

Now onto this outfit situation. I took these photos right before the snow hit, but it was still quite chilly out. I wanted to finally shoot what has become my new favorite sweater of the season.  It’s super soft and also flattering, and great for those super cold days. I wore it with my Good American jeans (reminder, order two sizes down) that I can’t seem to stop wearing lately.

A lot of you have been asking about how I curl my hair like this, and I’ve been using this wand, which has, dare I say it, changed my hair game. It has three interchangeable barrels so you can achieve very different looks, and works so so well. It took a few weeks for me to fully learn how to use it, but now I’m a pro. I’m working on figuring out how to film a video to teach you my newfound tricks.

The trick is to always wear a glove on your other hand and keep the wand pointed down at all times! Let me know if that helps 🙂

Looking to book a spa day in Feb after reading your post. My body will totally thank me!

Love the look. It was horrible driving in the snow. I worked and we closed at 3 and it took me hour and a half to get home when usually takes 25 min.

    Can’t wait for the recipe!
