Even though I work from home now, Monday mornings still have that “going back to the office” feel. My Monday morning routine includes hot lemon water, tea, a smoothie, and getting dressed before I head into my home office. If I stay in my PJs, it’s never a productive day.
Although I don’t go into a real office every day anymore, I did for over eight years (in a corporate, business casual, and start up setting) so I know a thing or two about playing that game. A few weeks ago, I posted a few tips on how to dress for the office. I got a lot of follow up questions from you guys so decided to share two more summer work looks. This is what I would wear if I worked outside of my home, but soon I’ll do a post about what to wear if you work from home… which looks a whole lot different than this!
I put together two easy looks with one great (monogrammed) tote that you can wear for the next month or two to the office. I love this bag because it can fit a small lap top, a water bottle, and everything else you need for the work day You can tailor these to more formal settings with proper shoes.
Look one was a version of my summer go-to. Offices tend to be cold so having a blazer or scarf is key. I love this striped one (also available here) because it looks quite summery but keeps you warm. In the fall, I’ll pair it with dark wash jeans, a white blouse, and a scarf. It’s one of those pieces that I, personally, will wear year-round. The cotton fabric is really thick so it will be functional in cooler months.
The second look is a simple striped dress (also here) which is easy to throw on for warm days but looks more professional than a plain sundress with the oxford fabric and buttons. I love the tie-waist which gives it a nice shape without being too tight. I paired it with red espadrilles but it would look great with navy pumps and blazer for formal settings.
