This is our third spring in a row heading to Sarasota for a little vacation. The first time I was newly pregnant, last year, Amalia was only 8 months old, and this time she’s a full-on walking and talking toddler. I have to say, I’m the most excited for this year’s trip because she really appreciates the beach and swimming in the pool now. Plus, it’s easier to eat out with her because she can order off of a menu and we don’t have to worry so much about toting around all of her food.
I’m also excited because it will be our first trip since I’ve been on anxiety medication, and I’m feeling confident in my ability to be more present, enjoy the time with my family, and not panic about being far away from home with my baby. I know that this will be a much different experience than our last trip together over Thanksgiving.
Obviously traveling with a mobile toddler presents certain challenges, so we don’t expect to relax much, but it will definitely be a long weekend full of giggles and sunshine. This is also the first time we’re going to Sarasota where it’s not a press trip so the pressure will be off and we can focus on hanging out with my aunts (who live there) and each other.
I’m also pretty excited about all of the vacation lewks Amalia and I are about to drop. J.Crew sent over her first press package (my dream come true!) which included this long-sleeved swimsuit. When she saw it, she literally audibly gasped with excitement and made me put it on her right away. With that plus everything I bought her in Palm Beach, her travel wardrobe is stacked.
And of course we had to bring a Lilly Pulitzer mommy and me look. It’s our thing!

I live in Sarasota : ) Try the new rooftop “Sage” and if you need an easy beach with a little one try Olearys Tiki – its not beach beach but she can play and its not too crowded- plus drinks and restroom nearby!
Have a wonderful time – weather looks great
Oh great thanks! Is Sage kid-friendly or is that for babysitter night?
I think its baby friendly for a hour or less pop in (rooftop) early
otherwise sitter and enjoy the fire pit : ) Have NOT tried restaurant
I am packing for a trip to the Dominican and cannot wait to escape the cold. My Summer wardrobe is definitely tired, but I don’t imagine anyone will care (except me ;)). Luckily, my gal pal will be the focus and she will be dressed to the nine’s in Grandma made threads .
Enjoy your vacay!!!
You’re so lucky! We might not get the warmest weather in FL but you’ll be good in the DR! Enjoy it 🙂
I love when you post glimpses of your closet or suitcase. It’s SO different from my neutral tones and always makes me smile to see all the color! Have a great time on your trip!!
So glad you love it! The bright colors just make me so happy. I’ve tried to be a neutral girl but it’s just not me haha
All of this is so cute! I saw those blue seersucker slides in the store, and they are so cute! 🙂 That lemon swimsuit is stunning too. I have been trying to find a new swimsuit, and I think I might need to grab that one!
They are amazing. My dream shoe! I haven’t worn the lemon suit yet but I can’t wait.
We’re going to Florida this weekend too! Also I love this kind of post! I have a toddler too so would love to see more posts about Amalia’s wardrobe. Maybe a run down of what you bought her for each season?
I love that idea. I will do one for summer!
I love this idea too!
Green zebra in St. Armand’s has really yummy juices, smoothies, and healthy breakfasts and lunches! It’s one of my favorite stops there!
Am I too old for that Charmed necklace? Haha so cute, it’s tempting. Amelia just may have the worlds best bow collection.
What do you pack your shoes in to keep separate from clothing?
I’ve been thinking about buying a pair of Levi’s jean shorts but have seen such mixed reviews on the sizing! Are yours in your normal size or did you size up? Thank you!!
Such a happy and bright post! Have so much fun on your trip with Amalia!
xx, Merritt
