Life Lately: Volume 113

We had some high highs and low lows this week. On a high note, Anel and I booked our first solo trip to Europe since having kids!!!! I am so excited and giddy and feel like a little girl again planning it all out. More details to come on that.

In other very exciting news, Bookshop.org included my cookbook in a newsletter campaign this week and you can currently get it for 15% off while supporting your local Indie bookstore!

On the other hand, we dealt with some frustrating regressions with the kiddos that took at lot out of us all emotionally. Luckily I think we’re on the upswing.

I read an article yesterday that really hit home as an anxious parent: Why you should stop worrying about your parenting. The research shows that you probably have less effect on your kids than you think—with one big exception: Your love will make them happy. This made me feel so much better about mistakes I’ve made along the way!

In a total 180, I’m on a child actor behind-the-scenes kick apparently this week because my book club is reading I’m Glad My Mom Died by Jeanette McCurdy (it’s effing fantastic) and I watched Quiet on Set (HBO Max), the docuseries about Nickelodeon child stars. Both detail pretty horrifying abuse by adults in the industry but are very interesting.

This weekend we are packed with soccer and dance and gymnastics and birthday parties and general kid chaos. Hope you all have a good one!
