Happy Monday! Today is the first day that I go back to work after the hurricane. New York was hit hard by Sandy but it's incredible how people have banded together and local businesses stepped it up by donating money, food, and charging stations.

Bubble Bath Cocktail

I know you can have liquor cocktails and drug cocktails but I'm not much into either, so I prefer one of my favorite nightly rituals: The bubble bath cocktail. Ever since I was a kid, a steaming hot bubble bath has been able to cure me of any problem, whether it's physical or emotional. I've never been a great sleeper, and this nighttime tradition calms me before sleep because of the heat of the water and the soothing scent of lavender.

Pumpkin Smoothie

Happy Halloween! Instead of snacking on candy bars filled with high fructose corn syrup and hyrogenated oils, try out this sweet and satisfying pumpkin smoothie.

I never know what to do with the extra pumpkin puree that I have lying around after recipes like this pumpkin bread. I was making my smoothie and perusing my refrigerator when a light bulb went off.

Being Authentically Me

Sometimes I get intimidated by other fashion bloggers. They have fabulously posh styles and are always flaunting the latest from top designers. It's hard to be a player in that game when that's not really how I roll. My style is clean, New England, preppy, colorful, and those qualities aren't necessarily considered "fashionable" to most people.

Sweet Potato Black Bean Chili

Last night, we spent most of the night watching the weather channel and in line at Whole Foods stocking up on water, beans, and other non-perishables. I've never seen so many people at a grocery store. It was insanity! I felt a strong urge to make something warm and comforting to brace us for the storm due to hit us today.
