Happy Friday, friends! I’m so excited to be road-tripping up to New Hampshire with Anel to visit my family for a true fall weekend. Every year in October, we go up for some real leaf peeping, pumpkin picking, and cozy meals at home.
With this tradition on the horizon, I’ve been thinking about what has stayed constant for me, year over year, fall after fall: I bake the same treats (paleo pumpkin bread, anyone?), do the same activities (apple picking and the likes), and wear the same looks (plaid on plaid on more plaid).
As I grow older and see the value in owning fewer but higher quality things, I’ve been trying to focus on building “capsule collections” for each season, filled with items that I’ll never get sick of, and most likely won’t go out of style anytime soon.
I wanted to share a rough idea of my classic fall capsule collection with you guys today because I’m kind of obsessed with it! You’ve seen me wear most of this stuff already… these leopard flats have been on repeat (see them here), I pretty much live in these jeans (here and here), these booties (here) and this plaid shirt is becoming a new favorite (last seen here)!
Over the next few weeks, I’ll be styling up a classic fisherman’s sweater, more Saint James striped shirts, a new pair of Bean Boots, and a new cozy fleece.
Fall capsule collection
Coats: Puffer Vest (also love this one for a fraction of the cost) / Barbour / Trench / Plaid Blazer (great affordable alternative) / Fleece (I love my Patagonia version too)/
Tops: Plaid Shirt / Fisherman Sweater / Saint James
Bottoms: Skirt (I’m also obsessed with this corduroy one) / Jeans
Shoes: Hunters / Booties / Leopard Flats / Riding Boots / Bean Boots
Accessories: Clutch / Plaid Scarf / Solid Scarf (Not pictured, comes in 26 colors) / Sunglasses
I’ve recently started wanting to do this too- especially since I’ve found I gravitate more towards accessories + shoes than new clothes. Love your collection!

Leopard flats and chunky sweaters are what I live in this time of year. (; Great options I need to also be considering adding! (:

Hi Julia, I like this selection but there is one thing in particular I want to say: the St James breton tees are THE BEST (I’m not just saying that because I’m French and want to support this company) but they are truly amazing quality. I have had mine (a red and white stripey long sleeve tee shirt) for 10 years and only this summer I realised I had a little hole. I wore it over and over again and it never failed to make my favourite tee shirt list every single year. I love the ankle booties and the chunky sweater, definitely considering it when I get a chance to buy a few things for myself. Have a lovely time with your family this weekend. We are holidaying in France with the kids and hubby and can’t wait to photograph all those amazing fall colours! Hugs, Julie

I TOTALLY agree about Saint James. I’ve been a fan forever. I think the price tag is totally worth it. They last a lifetime!
I’m crazy about that tweed jacket, I’ve been seeing so much of it around lately and really want one.

I appreciate how warm your capsule looks! That cable knit sweaters looks so cozy.
It is the BEST!
This is such a great list! The only thing I am really missing (and have been shaming myself for taking so long to purchase) is a great blazer!

I think it’s time to pick one up, lady! 🙂
I love all things fall and your list is full of perfect items (all that missing for me is a great tunic and pair of leggings!) I am really looking forward to seeing you style the LLBean boot mocs and fisherman’s sweater.
