This Week in Outfits

It was a tough week for me emotionally and mentally so I posted on here less than usual. I’m feeling more like myself this morning and am getting excited for a fun weekend with family and friends.

The week started with major exhaustion because we came back from a wedding weekend which was super fun but we only got a few hours of sleep each night. Anel, apparently, is extremely allergic to poison ivy and had it covering his entire body. I felt so bad for him! He’s finally feeling better now after about 10 days of pretty terrible pain and itching.

I had to have a couple of difficult conversations this week (one professional and one personal) which threw me off but they were both necessary and now I’m so glad that I had them. I find that the hardest confrontations often end up with the most powerful results.

On a more exciting note, we got a 3-page spread in New England Home Magazine for Countdown Fitness. It was our first big piece of printed press and we plan to celebrate this weekend! We also met with another journalist that might lead to yet another piece of press. It feels like after years of working hard for this business, things are starting to truly fall into place. I’m so proud of Anel!

The other exciting part of my week was going into the city for a conference. My job can be very isolating, so I always love connecting with other people in the industry and learning something new. So while the week felt overwhelming at first, it turned around into something pretty great. And here is everything I wore day-to-day.

I also realized this morning that our guest room has the best morning light so I’ll be taking my mirror selfies in there going forward!

Phone Case: The Daily Edited

Monday’s outfit: Grey State Jumpsuit (gifted) /Fairchild Baldwin Necklace

Monday in a nutshell: On Monday I had a meeting that I knew would be a hard one. It was for work but there was an emotional piece involved and a confrontation had to happen that I was just not at all looking forward to. But I got through it and felt so much better after it was over. Besides that meeting, I spent the whole day working from home. I wore this jumpsuit for the meeting so I could feel comfortable but also powerful. It is so beyond soft I can’t even tell you. It’s made by a sustainable brand called Grey State that reached out to me about trying their clothes recently, and everything I’ve tried so far has fit really well and been insanely soft. But this jumpsuit is a favorite so far.

Tuesday’s outfit: J.Crew Plaid Blazer (gifted, similar for $99) / Everlane Tee / Gucci Belt / J.Crew Jeans / J.Crew Booties / ASHA Necklace

Tuesday in a nutshell: I headed into the city for an influencer and brand partnership conference hosted by ACTIVATE. It was an inspirational day where I learned a few things and felt re-invigorated in both my work as a marketer and as an influencer. It was also nice to have two quiet train rides to get some work done! I love working on the train because I’m much less distracted than at home. I loved my outfit on Tuesday. I had been waiting for a cool day to wear my new (gifted) J.Crew blazer. I paired it with a simple white tee and jeans for a comfortable, simple, but chic look.

Wednesday’s outfit: Kerri Rosenthal Sweater (gifted) / lululemon Align Leggings (in navy)

Wednesday in a nutshell: I spent all day in front of my computer and on phone calls at home and literally didn’t leave the house except for daycare pick up and drop off. I try to get dressed even when I don’t see another person all day but it was cold and my leggings/sweater combo was just too cozy to take off.

Thursday’s outfit: Mango Sweater / Veronica Beard Jeans (on sale, a few sizes left) / Jenni Kayne Flats (Similar for $88)/ Hat Attack Hat  (gifted, use code JULIAFALL15 for 15% off) / ASHA Necklace

Thursday in a nutshell: We had a meeting with a journalist for who might be writing a big story on Anel’s gym! On my way home I stopped by the Jenni Kayne pop-up at my friend’s store and bought a pair of shoes that I’ve wanted for years (here is a more affordable pair). I also had my once-a-quarter psychiatrist appointment. I have to go in every three months to make sure my meds are still working properly and to make sure we don’t have to change the dosage. I spent the rest of the day working from home until my dad came to town and we took Amalia out to dinner together. Yesterday was a good day and I finally did my hair for the first time all week!

Friday’s outfit: J.Crew Sweater (50% off with code GOBIG) / J.Crew Slip Skirt / Jenni Kayne Flats / Etsy Headband

Friday in a nutshell: Today I have two fun things on my plate: a facial and lunch date. On days like today I wake up at 5:30 to get in a few hours of work before the “real day” starts. Even though I feel tired at the time, by 8 am I feel so accomplished! We have friends coming over for dinner tonight and I’m hoping this outfit will take me through the whole day and our little dinner party.

I hope you have a great weekend!

Love this! Ugh the work confrontations are the worst, especially when you’re the boss. Builds such character though. Unfortunately the more successful you are, the more of those discussions you have to have. Def gets easier though. I felt like I finally “made it” as a boss when I had someone thank me for firing them after they had time reflect on the decision lol. You’re doing the other party a favor by being honest! More boss lady posts please.

You should write a post on difficult conversations! I am horrible about them, and mostly just don’t have them.

I’m not going to lie, I am having a hard time getting past the $425 shoes! What is causing them to be that expensive? Is the quality or material that much better than the Madewell alternative? Is there something about that brand that jacks up the price that much? I looked at the other items and they are all over the top expensive as well. $125 for black camisole top, $195 for a normal sweatshirt?
I think in general why things cost what they do is fascinating and aside from supply and demand I would love to learn more about price setting, costs, and margins.
As always you look adorable and I love your style.
